UPDATE: Apparently the new terms are only applicable to content made specifically for Paypal. The way it's worded is really confusing, and legalese in general is a mess to comprehend, but this sounds pretty legit. ponies-on-paper.tumblr.com/pos… Here's hoping, anyway!
On July 1st, 2015, Paypal is updating its terms of service.
Amendment to the PayPal User Agreement.
Intellectual Property
We are adding a new paragraph to section 1.3., which outlines the licence and rights that you give to us and to the PayPal Group (see paragraph 12 below for the definition of “PayPal Group”) to use content that you post for publication using the Services. A similar paragraph features in the Privacy Policy, which is removed by the addition of this paragraph to the User Agreement. The new paragraph at section 1.3 reads as follows:
“When providing us with content or posting content (in each case for publication, whether on- or off-line) using the Services, you grant the PayPal Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise any and all copyright, publicity, trademarks, database rights and intellectual property rights you have in the content, in any media known now or in the future. Further, to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, you waive your moral rights and promise not to assert such rights against the PayPal Group, its sublicensees or assignees. You represent and warrant that none of the following infringe any intellectual property right: your provision of content to us, your posting of content using the Services, and the PayPal Group’s use of such content (including of works derived from it) in connection with the Services.”
What this means is that, starting July 1st, if you use Paypal to accept payment for art commissions or to run an online business selling your own work, then Paypal claims total copyright ownership of your work. It doesn't belong to you anymore and they can do what they want with it.
This kind of business is fucking wretched, and I can't fathom how Paypal doesn't think this will drive away their business. No one is going to want to use Paypal if it means that Paypal suddenly owns all their work. All I can say is Google Wallet is suddenly looking a lot more appealing. >__>
At the moment I'm going to ask my upcoming commissions customers to mark the payment as a gift when you send me the payment money. As far as I'm concerned, Paypal has no business knowing what your money is for and even less business trying to tell me that they own the pictures I draw. Fuck that.

Happy New Year!
2018 was not a terribly great year for me. :b Here's hoping we all have a much better 2019! May all of us find happiness, love, and success in our endeavors. :)
DA: Eclipse, and other nonsense
God fucking DAMMIT. I am so tired of DA deciding that huge, dramatic changes to things that have been fine for years on end is a good thing by default. "If it ain't broke" is clearly something that nobody in the staff cares a damn about. And they love to proudly announce said changes with tons of fanfare while decidedly ignoring any negative criticism and concern from the userbase, only promoting positive feedback. Nobody WANTS these changes, and they're actively making everything look so much worse with tons of wasted space and removing customization options. God, everything about the new message center, gallery pages, comments, and even dev
Inktober COMPLETE
Happy Halloween errybody!
Hard to believe after going the better part of a whole year without drawing anything I'd be able to churn out new pics for 31 straight days, but I DID IT ~superw00tplz (https://www.deviantart.com/superw00tplz) I'm very proud of how these turned out, and I'd like to color a few here and there in the near future. :) Let's hope I can keep up some of this productivity into next year XD I also happened to make a list of 31 more X-Men characters I didn't get to this time, in case I decide to revisit this next year. ^__^

Each day I'll be drawing one of my favorite X-Men characters, either in my favorite costume of theirs or a new design based on details I like from different outfits they've worn over the years. So here's the kick off to X-Tober, stay tuned!

Ugh...great, I need to go make an update journal.
THIS is why I freaking HATE the news media. They're a bunch of fear mongers.
Note, I'm someone who's WORKED in the news media at college.
