There's a lot of subtlety and vagueness in the writing that I found really creepy so I wanted to try and emulate that in the illustrations, especially regarding Fluttercruel. That one's my favorite of this set. To me, that image, and just the idea that sweet Fluttershy could even be capable of something so horrific, is a million times scarier than just showing her torturing someone. And here's a morbid little game to play: can you name all the ponies on her dress? ...I am such a horrible person. XD
